When the world slowed down during COVID-19, Jeremy found himself feeling unusually stagnant, working out of his garage, praying for a challenge that could reinvigorate his athletic spirit. Little did he know, his request for a challenge would be answered in a way that intertwined his faith, community, and a newfound calling.
One day, prompted by a friend, Jireh, Jeremy was invited to join a 7-day 6K event to raise funds for charity. Reluctant yet driven by a desire to be obedient, like Moses, Jeremy decided to take on the challenge, albeit hesitantly asking, “How about my brother?” But soon, it was clear this challenge was meant for him.
Starting with a fundraising goal of $2,000, Jeremy took to Facebook to share his mission. To his astonishment, within a couple of days, he was already at $1,200. “Maybe I can actually reach this,” he thought. As the days unfolded, not only did he meet his goal, but he also surpassed it dramatically thanks to generous friends and a timely matching donation, eventually raising over $5,000. “God is super cool,” he recalls, realizing that when you step out in faith, the community steps up in support.
Despite a severe setback when he snapped his Achilles tendon just weeks before a major race, Jeremy’s spirit remained unbroken. Adorned with an orange cast, he chose to drive for his team instead of running, leaving a legacy of determination and heart on the beach where he completed his donation drive.
Jeremy’s journey didn’t stop at recovery. He continued to grow into leadership roles, from captaining his team in various events to participating in the prestigious Hood to Coast relay. His involvement with Team World Vision transformed from individual participation to leading others, embedding him deeply within a family united by a cause greater than themselves.
Today, Jeremy admits he still doesn’t love running, but he’s found profound reasons to keep his feet moving—one charitable stride at a time. “Give me a reason to run,” he says, and it seems that each race, each dollar raised, and each life touched gives him exactly that—endless reasons to continue.
Through sweat, perseverance, and a community that runs as one, Jeremy’s story is a testament to the power of faith and the impact of collective action. There is indeed no finish line in Jeremy’s race, just endless next steps toward making a difference, one run at a time.
